What is Rotaract?
Rotaract is a global organisation that empowers people aged 18+ to create positive change in their local communities and around the world. Rotaract provides unique opportunities that assist its members in becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
Members engage in a wide range of activities including social, professional and community events. Rotaract Clubs are more than just community service groups. Each club is a part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level, but it knows no limits in its outreach.
When you become a member of Rotaract, you join the global family of Rotary. There are 1.2 million Rotarians and 200 thousand Rotaractors worldwide.
Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at the Univeristy of North Carolina. It was sponsored by the Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. “Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action”, although the name originally comes from a combination of “Rotary” and “Interact” (International & Action), the high school level program created by Rotary International in 1962.
Rotaract club is available in 184 countries. There is an estimated 250,792 Rotractors and 10, 904 Rotaract Clubs in the world.
