Introduction
The international visitation of Rotaract District 9103 from Benin Republic to Rotaract District 9111 was a remarkable exchange program aimed at strengthening international relations, fostering fellowship, and carrying out impactful community service projects. The visit spanned four days, from Thursday, Feb 6, to Sunday, Feb 9, 2025, and featured various activities that enhanced collaboration between both districts.
Day 1: Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025 – Arrival and Fellowship
The delegates from Rotaract District 9103 arrived in Lagos, where they were warmly received by Rotaract District 9111 District Rotaract Representatives and his District Board. The day commenced with a fellowship meeting hosted by the Rotary Club of Ikeja Golden, fostering meaningful interactions and cross-cultural exchanges.
Following the fellowship, the hosting club organized a hangout session, allowing members of both districts to socialize, network, and enjoy the rest of the evening in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 2: Friday, Feb 7, 2025 – International Projection and District Governor’s Evening
The second day was dedicated to community service, reinforcing the essence of humanitarian service in Rotaract. The delegation visited the Lagos State Girl Children Correctional Centre, where they carried out an impactful outreach program. Donations made to the center included:
Food items
Exercise books
Toiletries
JAMB past questions
WAEC past questions
Water heater
This initiative aimed to support the educational and personal welfare of the girls at the correctional center.
In the evening, the delegates proceeded to the Rotary District 9111 Evening with the District Governor at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja. The event provided an opportunity for the international guests to engage with district leaders and gain deeper insights into the activities and structure of Rotary in Nigeria.
Day 3: Saturday, Feb 8, 2025 – Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Seminar
The third day focused on capacity-building and knowledge-sharing. A fellowship and seminar on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution was organized, hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Ewutuntun and Gowon Estate. This seminar provided an avenue for Rotaractors to discuss strategies for promoting peace and handling conflicts effectively within communities.
The day concluded with another hangout session, fostering relaxation and deeper bonds between members of both districts.
Day 4: Sunday, Feb 9, 2025 – Departure
On the final day, the visiting Rotaractors from District 9103 departed back to their home district, marking the end of a successful and impactful international visitation program.
Conclusion
The visitation of Rotaract District 9103 from Benin Republic to District 9111 was a resounding success, strengthening international ties and reinforcing the spirit of service above self. The activities undertaken during the visit showcased the importance of collaboration, community service, and knowledge exchange. This initiative serves as a foundation for future partnerships and continued engagement between both districts. Rotary District 9111 in partnership with Raising Star Africa organized a back to school project for all students at Oki Primary Inclusive Unit. We shared educational materials, white marker-boards, school uniforms and sandals.
This will stimulate access to education for every one of the students.
